  • The Venu is the south Indian flute used in the Carnatic music of South India.
  • It is a keyless transverse flute made of bamboo with eight holes.
  • It is one of the oldest instruments in India.
  • It requires both hands for closing and opening the holes.
  • It has a blowing hole near the end.
  • It comes in various sizes that produce different tones.
