The MIDI keyboard is an electronic device used either for sending MIDI signals, a protocol short for Musical Instrument Digital Interface, or for sending commands to other devices connected to the same interface as the keyboard. It looks very similar to a digital keyboard with basic piano style keys.
A basic MIDI keyboard does not produce sound. It acts as a controller of MIDI devices and sound modules. The MIDI information is sent to an electronic device or module capable of reproducing an array of digital samples or sounds (voices) for simulating traditional analog musical instruments. It uses an encoding scheme used for mapping a MIDI value to a specific instrument sample. MIDI keyboard software
A MIDI keyboard software uses the computer hard drive as memory and the monitor as an interface. It has additional functions such as synthesizers. It allows more control over the various stages of sound reproduction. It connects to the computer through the USB port.
Features: To get more sound options, choose a MIDI keyboard that allows you to have control over the various stages of sound: attack, decay, sustain, and release.
