Kinds of MIDI Sequencers include the following: |
Analog MIDI sequencer An analog MIDI sequencer uses a control voltage/trigger interface. It simply gives commands to the connected device responding to a particular MIDI message. A MIDI note-on message tells an instrument to play a specified note. Digital hardware MIDI sequencer A digital hardware MIDI sequencer has almost replaced the analog MIDI sequencer. It is a stand alone unit that plays back MIDI control information and MIDI events at a specified number of beats per minute. It has added audio recording, audio editing, and sample triggering features. Digital software MIDI sequencer A digital software MIDI sequencer uses the personal computer as hardware and the monitor as the interface. An enhanced software MIDI sequencer is called a digital audio workstation (DAW). It has additional functions such as music notation, mixers, and synthesizers. |
