Power Amplifier : What is it?
| Power amplifiers provide the final stage of amplification in a speaker system. They work by picking up signals from preamplifiers or other preliminary stage amplifier, and delivering high levels of electrical power to the signal. This increases their volume and makes them audible over long distances. Power amplifiers have the highest efficiency in amp transmission systems, usually rated from Class B upwards. |

Kinds of Power Amplifiers include the following: |
Radio frequency (RF) power amplifiers RF power amplifiers increase the frequencies of radio waves. They are available in four sizes from 3.5 to 8.75 inches, as well as band-specific and broadband frequencies. High-power amplifiers High-power amplifiers amplify high-powered transmissions, such as TV broadcasts. They have a maximum output of 44 watts and operate at six to 17 GHz. Power acoustic amplifiers Power acoustic amplifiers, also called audio amps, are designed specifically for audio amplification. They are classified into woofers for low-frequency bass signals, mid-range for regular signals, and tweeters for high-frequency signals. Microwave amplifiers Microwave amplifiers are used for signals with high frequencies. They usually operate at 290 MHz to 14 GHz. |

Efficiency: Choose a power amplifier with an efficiency rating above 50%. This will help reduce your power consumption and protect the amplifier from overheating and burning out. For professional recordings and live performances, look for ratings above 70%. Linearity: Choose a power amplifier with a high linearity. This means that the sound quality remains the same throughout the amplification process. Make sure the power amplifier is compatible with the rest of the transmission system. Bandwidth: Choose a power amplifier with a broad bandwidth to allow it to operate at various frequencies. RF amplifiers should be at lower frequencies when used in public places to prevent interference from other radio devices. |
