Made from nickel plated steel wire wrapped around tin plated hex shaped steel core wire. By far the most popular, produces well balanced all around good sound.

Rotosounds (stainless steel) are hard not only on your fingertips but on your nickel frets as well. In my opinion, with Ernie Ball nickel bass strings you get the response you need with less damage to either. The string life may be lesser, but when do you want to spend $400 to have your instrument refretted due to steel damage? If Ernie Ball is good enough for Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, King Crimson), don't you think it's good enough for you?
