Rating : great tone - Dom DeC, Aug 23, 2004
The first time I saw black nylon strings was on the Let It Be video, used by Paul McCartney, about four months ago. When I finally got the chance to replace the strings on my Danelectro, I decided to give the GHS black nylon strings a try, and I love them. They give my already mellow bass a more mellow tone. The nylon takes away a lot of the metallic sounds that regular strings make. I only recommend these strings to people who like low, bassy tones. Those of you who like treble tones wouldn't like these strings. With the tone knob all the way up on the bridge pickup, it almost has the same tone as the neck pickup with regular strings. I'm sure that the tone differs a lot for different basses, so I recommend that any bass player looking for a very mellow tone to try these strings at least once.
