Notebook paper is designed to be bound using spiral wires or coils. It is usually thinner than printer paper, since it is not exposed to the same high temperatures. The sides are usually punched with holes for winding the coil and holding the sheets together. Notebook paper is usually sold as refill for reusable binders and comes in 50- to 300-leaf packs.
Thickness: Choose notebook paper with low to medium thickness for general writing applications. For drawing and drafting, look for thick, slightly stiff notebook paper to keep it from wearing out when you erase.
Lines: Make sure the rules or graph lines are even, equally spaced, and clearly printed. If you do extensive note-taking, choose notebook paper with closely-spaced lines to maximize writing space.
