Duct tape is a pressure-sensitive adhesive that is usually 1.88 inches (44 mm) wide. It is composed of three layers: (1) top layer is a plastic called polyethelyne; (2) which is followed by a fabric mesh; and (3) at the bottom is a rubber-based adhesive. Generally available in silver or black, other colors and even transparent duct tapes are now available.
