Kinds of Stretch Films include the following: |
Cast stretch film
- Cast stretch film is made by cast extrusion.
- Also called cast wrap or cast film, it has a clear and glossy surface offering great optics.
- It has a consistent thickness and cling that unwinds silently off the roll.
- It can be stretched by hand or by machine.
Blown stretch film
- Blown stretch film is made by blown film extrusion.
- Also called blown film, it has a dull and hazy surface offering poor optics.
- It resists punctures well but unwinds noisily off the roll due to high load forces.
- It is usually stretched by hand.
Hand stretch film
- Hand stretch film is used for manual applications.
- Also called hand film, hand wrap, manual pallet wrap, and hand stretch wrap, it is ideal for home use and low-volume packaging operations.
Machine stretch film
- Machine stretch film is applied using a stretch wrap machine.
- It is ideal for high volume packaging operations because it is more efficient and wraps faster.
Prestretch film
- Prestretch film is stretched prior to use.
- It uses less material for wrapping and makes fewer load wrapping revolutions.
- It is recyclable.
- It offers stable, consistent, and strong packaging.
Specialty stretch film
- Specialty stretch film is used for specific packaging purposes that traditional stretch film cannot accommodate.
- Its examples include VCI, UVI, tinted, opaque black, antistatic, and wide web stretch film.
