Water Cooler : What is it?
| Water coolers are electric devices used for cooling and dispensing water for drinking. They are made with refrigerating units that cool the water and dispensing machines that dole out the water to the user. They are easy to access and simple to use, allowing for direct drinking or filling of containers with water. They eliminate the need for cooling drinking water in refrigerators. They are commonly used at homes, in schools, and in offices. |

Wall-mounted water coolers
- Wall-mounted water coolers are also known as plumbed-in water coolers.
- They are connected to the primary water supply of a house or building.
- They provide continuous supply of water.
- They require electricity to refrigerate or cool incoming water.
- They are made with small containers that hold chilled and ready-to-drink water.
- They have buttons that need to be pressed or turned on before chilled water can come out.
- Most models dispose of unused water in waste systems.
- They are generally durable and stable, usually lasting up to 10 years.
- Drinking fountains that provide cold water come in these types. Users can drink directly from the valve or fill a glass with water.
Freestanding water coolers
- Freestanding water coolers do not require plumbing installations and attachment to the main water supply of a building or house.
- Unlike wall-mounted units that supply unfiltered water, the freestanding units get water from the large bottles filled with filtered or distilled water upended over them.
- They have interior cooling machines that chill warm water from the bottles and dispensing machines that dole out the chilled water.
- Unlike drinking fountains, they do not allow direct drinking. A glass or a small bottle should be filled to get water.
- They require electricity to continuously cool warm water.
- They are available in floor and tabletop models.
