Aquarium gravel is a collection of pebbles and rock fragments that lines the bottom of an aquarium tank. It also helps clean the water by removing fish waste without using a planting tank or an underground filter. Commonly sold in packs, it is available in natural, cultured, coated, and tumbled glass varieties.
Nontoxicity: Choose nontoxic aquarium gravel that does not contain lethal minerals that can harm the fish.
Content: Do not get aquarium gravel with dolomite, sea shells, corals, or limestone minerals, as these materials release carbonates that increase the pH buffering level of the water.
