Aquarium stands support aquariums from the bottom and hold them up away from the floor. They keep them out of the reach of other pets such as cats and dogs, and also serve as decorative displays for the tank. They usually have extra room at the top for hoods and lighting, and built-in cabinets at the bottom for storing aquarium supplies like fish food and feeders.
Wooden stands are usually made of medium density fiberboard (MDF) with a protective finish.
They have lower weight capacity and are easily damaged be heat and moisture from the tank.
They may be sold pre-assembled or in separate parts to be assembled by the user. Metal stands
Metal stands are usually made of sheet steel or powder-coated aluminum. They are available in box and full cabinet types. Box stands are basic platforms with little or no storage, while cabinet stands are larger and include cabinets and slide-out drawers. They are sturdier than wooden stands, but they need additional protection when used in saltwater aquariums.
Size: Choose an aquarium stand slightly bigger than your aquarium's base area. Make sure there is room for movement and adjustment on all sides. Look for one with raised edges or a custom-sized recessed center to keep the tank from slipping. Storage: Choose an aquarium tank with built-in cabinets for storing equipment such as filters, pumps, and chillers. If you keep stocks of fish food, choose a cabinet with slide-out drawers to keep them within easy reach.
