Size: Choose a bird cage large enough for your bird to move around in. Also, look for one with ample bar spacing, as a narrow one can easily snag your bird’s head, feet, or wings and cause injury.
Shape: Choose a rectangular bird cage longer than it is taller that gives your bird more space to move around and exercise. Look for a taller bird cage for a larger bird like a parrot, allowing it to climb up and down.
Materials used: For durability, choose a stainless steel bird cage that resists rust. To make it safe for your bird, it should be layered with a nontoxic coating.
