  • An electric dog fence is an invisible fence.
  • It uses an electric wire buried underground around the perimeter of the yard and a receiver placed on the dog's collar.
  • The electric wire broadcasts a weak radio field causing the collar to beep whenever the dog is near the boundary.
  • The electric wire sends a mild electric shock whenever the dog comes too close to the boundary, preventing it from crossing over.
