Broadheads have triangular cutting blades with at least an inch of cutting diameter (bigger than normal), as they are designed for hunting big game. They used either fixed or expandable blades.
Cut-on-contact broadheads cut the targets as soon as they touch them. They are usually made of steel. Cheaper models made of razor blade are also available. Good cut-on-contact broadheads spin accurately and fly perfectly without noise or wind planing.
Penetrating broadheads
Penetrating broadheads pierce the targets before cutting them. They have dull, thin tips for effective penetration. Their blades are set at a certain angle from the tips. This formation often causes the chopping of the blades since their sides make the first contact.
Edges. Choose a broadhead with straight edges – not a serrated or saw-toothed one -- for a quicker and more accurate targeting. Crooked edges tend to catch a lot of hair, significantly limiting penetration.
