Canoe carts are essentially metal frames connecting two wheels and a saddle. They are used to carry canoes. A typical canoe cart is usually foldable and can carry canoes weighing up to 200 pounds.
Budget Canoe Carts are commonly made of regular steel frames. They may come with all-terrain wheels with tires as big as ten inches. Most can carry canoes and kayaks up to 150 lbs.
Mid-range Canoe Carts are usually made of more expensive extra lightweight anodized aluminum frames that weigh only 6 pounds. They usually have treaded wheels for extra traction in mud or grass. They may even have quick release wheels that collapse in seconds for easy storage.
High-end Canoe Carts are usually made of extra wide 20-inch lightweight aluminum frames. Most of these more expensive canoe carts come with 10 by 4 inch treaded tires that are perfect for any terrain. They usually have removable tires for easy storage and can carry canoes and kayaks up to 200 pounds.
Materials used: If you can afford to, buy a canoe cart made of lightweight aluminum. Such carts are more expensive but usually last longer because they are rustproof.
Extras: Large treaded tires would prevent your canoe carts from slipping in the mud. They are more expensive, but are well worth the extra money if you often haul your kayak along grubby surfaces.
