Carbon Arrow : What is it?
| Carbon arrows are durable, lightweight arrows with shafts first developed by Easton Archery in 1983. They were initially made with brittle shafts that easily splintered into small and sharp fragments. Modern carbon arrows are now made using carbon cross weaving and spiral fiber-wrapping that enhance their strength and durability. Unlike aluminum arrows, carbon arrows are able to maintain their straightness. However, they have smaller diameters than aluminum arrows, preventing them from making perfect arrow flights. |

Kinds of carbon arrows include the following: |
Pultruded Carbon Arrows Pultruded Carbon Arrows feature uni-directional fibers that lack burst strength. They generally feature the same weight and stiffness of aluminum arrows, making them practical and economical alternatives. Internal Component Carbon Arrows Internal Component Carbon Arrows have alternating layers of cross-weave carbon fibers. The carbon fibers counteract the inside forces, allowing the shafts to use and support traditional nocks and point inserts that usually slip inside the shafts. They are lighter than aluminum arrows, but are quite expensive. Hybrid Carbon Arrows Hybrid Carbon Arrows are made of aluminum and carbon combined. Most models are constructed with aluminum cores with carbon coating. They have the straightness of aluminum arrows and the strength of carbon arrows. They are more expensive than pure aluminum and carbon arrows. |

Arrow length. Choose a long carbon arrow if you want to make limber shots. Get a short one for making stiff and fast shots. Arrow weight. For speed, choose a lightweight carbon arrow that flies fast without losing its trajectory. Lightweight carbon arrows are also ideal for 3D shooters and bowhunters. |
