Cricket Bat : What is it?
| Cricket bats are shaped like paddles and are usually made of willow wood treated with linseed oil. Cricket bats consist of a padded handle that widens into a flat wooden piece called the blade. The joint between the handle and the blade is called the shoulder, and the slightly rounded tip of the blade is called the toe. Cricket bats are allowed a maximum length of 38 inches and a width of 4.25 inches. There are no set standards for weight, although most commercially available bats weigh between two to three pounds. |

Kinds of Cricket Bats include the following: |

Size: Choose a cricket bat that is proportionate to your body size. A bat that is too large or too small will be distracting and hard to control. Test for the appropriate size by leaning the bat against your front leg in the batting stance. The upper end should rest against the inside groin of your front leg. Weight: Choose a cricket bat that is light enough to swing without much effort. Lighter bats are generally better than heavy ones, although there should be just enough weight to deliver force to the ball. |
