Fishing Vest : What is it?
| Fishing vests have numerous pockets at the front, back, and sides for carrying fishing tools such as flies, baits, water, and knives in an organized fashion. Their pockets can be closed using zippers or Velcro straps. Fishing vests are usually made from light fabrics such as cotton and polyester to keep them cool to wear in the summer and still comfortable to use even when fully loaded.

Short Fishing Vests
Short Fishing Vests are used for wading in waters with strong currents. They are short, so they do not get soaked easily. They are less constricting and do not get in the way when angling.
Regular—sized fishing vests
Regular-sized Fishing Vests have more pockets for store fishing equipment. They are ideal for calm waters.

Size: Get a fishing vest that is one size larger than your jacket size since you will be wearing it over your shirt, sweater, or jacket.
Pockets: Choose a fishing vest with 20 to 30 pockets for carrying fly boxes, weights, extra leader spools, strike indicators, fly floatants, forceps or pliers, and other gadgets. For easy retrieval of your equipment, make sure the pockets are closed by Velcro strips. Also, get one with a waterproof inside pocket for carrying important things such as your fishing license.
“D” rings: Look for a fishing vest with a couple of “D” rings at the front for attaching lanyards, leader straighteners, and other tools.
