Football Cleat : What is it?
| Football cleats have soles fitted with studs or cleats, which provide traction and give players extra stability on hard or slippery grounds. An extra cleat at the toe center allows the player to make quick starts and takeoffs. Football cleats also have more aggressive outsoles than other sport cleats. This allows the feet to absorb the high-impact landings involved in the sport, where they are subjected to seven to eight times the user's body weight. Football cleats are usually made of leather or synthetic materials. Genuine leather cleats last longer and provide excellent wear, but are generally more expensive. Most middle-end football cleats use a combination of both, with the synthetics serving as reinforcements in well-used parts such as the sole. |

Kinds of Football Cleats include the following: |
Molded Football Cleats Molded cleats are have cleats permanently attached to the bottom of the shoe. They are commonly used on turf shoes, which use mildewed rubber cleats for better spring and traction on hard turf fields. They are generally less expansive than detachable cleat models. Detachable Football Cleats Detachable cleats have removable cleats that can be replaced with other cleat styles. The studs can usually be bumped or snapped off, and replacement cleats can be screwed in or installed with a wrench. They are good for those who play on different playing surfaces, although they are particularly useful on grass fields.
Players usually substitute cleats with shorter studs for dry surfaces, and longer studs for sloppy grass. |

Comfort: Choose football cleats that feel comfortable on your feet. Make sure the insides are well padded to provide cushioning for hard landings. Avoid paddings that are too thick, however, because they reduce your feel of the ground and affect your performance. If you will be playing in cold or rainy weather, choose cleats that are insulated inside as well. Traction: Choose football cleats with firm studs for better traction and stability. Look for those that bend slightly under pressure but will not break or snap off easily. Also make sure that the toe cleat is large and delivers extra spring for jumps. Durability: Make sure your football cleats are made of strong leather that can withstand frequent use and wear. Look for thick materials that will not wear out or tear easily. Check the cleats and make sure they are securely attached to the sole. |
