Golf Cart Heater : What is it?
| Golf cart heaters consist of a flat head attached to a heat cylinder or tank, where heat is generated using gas or electricity. The tank usually fits into the cup holder or mounts into a slot in the dashboard, with the head facing outwards to dissipate the heat. Golf cart heaters are ideal for playing in winter or cold weather. The heat output of golf cart heaters is measured in British thermal units (BTUs). Most golf cart heaters have an output of 3,000 BTUs, which can raise the interior temperature by about 10oF to 25oF. Some of the more powerful heaters have capacities reaching 10,000 BTUs. |

Kinds of Golf Cart Heaters include the following: |
Propane Golf Cart Heaters Propane Golf Cart Heaters are powered by propane gas, which is stored in a pressurized tank. The tanks are made of stainless steel with plastic bases, and usually come in standard capacities of 14.1 to 16.4 ounces. A full propane tank can power the heater for up to seven hours. They also come with safety grates over the front, which prevents accidental contact with the burning part of the heater. They are more compact than electric heaters and are commonly used in smaller golf carts. Electric Golf Cart Heaters Electric Golf Cart Heaters are powered by batteries, usually hooked up to the golf cart’s motor for power. They are more expensive than propane heaters, but will prove cheaper in the long run as they do not have to be refueled. They are usually available in standard power outputs of 36 to 48 volts. Seat warmers Seat warmers are heating covers placed over the golf cart’s seats, typically at the back seats where dash-mounted heaters cannot reach. They are connected to the golf cart’s main power supply and can work on electric carts with 12, 36, and 48 volts. They are usually made of mildew- and fade-resistant fabric, which can better withstand frequent exposure to heat. Drink heaters Drink heaters are designed to fit into the golf cart’s built-in cup holders to keep drinks warm. They also draw power from the vehicle’s electrical supply. They are mostly made for specific cart or holder models, although there are also generic drink heaters available. |

Safety: Make sure your golf cart heater is safe to use with your golf cart. If you are buying an electric heater, make sure its voltage will not conflict with that of your vehicle. Check the tank and valves of propane heaters for any cracks or openings that may cause leaks. Even small amounts of propane can explode when ignited, so make sure the tank is tightly sealed. Heat output: Choose a golf cart heater that can generate enough heat to all areas of your golf cart. Keep in mind that the heat-up rate varies depending on how enclosed your golf cart is. More enclosed cabs heat up faster, so if you have an open cart, you may need a more powerful heater.
