Hockey pants are hockey apparel lined with padding to protect the hockey player's thighs, hips, kidneys, and tailbone from the impacts caused by flying pucks and sticks, and falling on the ice. Garter belts keep them in place around the waist. Depending on the federation or organization, hockey pants may or may not be required apparel. Goalkeepers and players have different hockey pants.
Hockey pants for players are lighter and more flexible so as not to impede movement.
Goalie pants
Goalie pats are made with bigger and thicker pads because the goalkeeper requires more protection from puck hits. They usually have hard plastic pads around the back and integral kneepads to enable the goalie to kneel without injuring himself. They also have thick pads on the insides of the thighs to prevent the puck from going through the five hole.
Fit: Make sure that the goalie pants are snug. The padding should not easily get displaced and expose critical body areas to injury. Garter: Make sure you get hockey pants made with high quality garter. Velcro: Choose hockey pants with Velcro on the inseams, so you can easily adjust it to a more comfortable position.
