Hockey shin guards or shin pads protect hockey players from the injuries caused by hits from an opponent's stick, a flying puck, kneeling, and falling down on the ice. They are made with padded materials for better protection, and are anywhere from seven to 17 inches long. Hockey shin guards are fitted over the kneecaps using Velcro straps. They fall just above the skate tops.
Types Of Hockey Shin Guards
Kinds of Hockey Shin Guards include the following:
Shin guards for forwards
Shin guards for forwards are usually made from lighter materials, allowing forwards to move and skate faster. Shin guards for defensemen
Shin guards for defensemen are bigger and thicker because they are used to block more shots when defending the net.
Choosing Hockey Shin Guards (Buying Tips)
Height: Choose shin guards appropriate for your height. To get the proper size, sit down before measuring from the middle of your kneecap to the top of your skate. Adjustability: Look for shin guards with adjustable straps, so you can easily adjust or take them off when needed. However, the straps should be secure enough to prevent them from coming undone while you are playing.
