| A horse halter, also known as a headcollar, is an equine accessory made of nylon, leather, or rope straps worn over a horse's head, muzzle, and neck. It used to guide a horse while trotting. Horse halters have muzzle ends pulled by the horse handler. Much gentler than a horse bit, they do not have the metal or rubber mouthpiece a horse bit has that sometimes bites or cuts at a horse's tongue, mouth, and lips. |
