Lacrosse Boot : What is it?
| Lacrosse boots have studs or cleats of various sizes and heights on the soles, which provide the traction necessary for running across rough grounds. In most models, the cleats are located around the edges for better grip on the ground when making sharp turns or lunging to one side. Lacrosse boots also feature stiff or full-length midsoles to absorb impact from the ground and to allow better direction control for jumps and lunges. This also centers the weight of the player when standing or balancing on one foot, which lessens stress on the the cleats to protect them from damage. Most lacrosse boots are also padded on the inside to provide cushioning to the foot, especially during hard landings. Lacrosse boots are usually made of leather or nylon, or a combination of the two. The most common style is one with a leather body and nylon uppers, which makes the boot fairly durable but still comfortable. Some have nylon bodies and leather uppers, a lighter but less durable design. Tongue straps or laces are tied across the top of the boot to keep it in place while running. |

Kinds of Lacrosse Boots include the following: |
Cleat type Lacrosse boots with molded cleats Lacrosse boots with molded cleats have cleats welded permanently onto the sole. They are more durable than detachable cleats, but are harder to repair because damaged cleats cannot be replaced. They are ideal for playing on soft grounds, where the landings are gentler and will not put as much stress on the soles. Lacrosse boots with detachable cleats Lacrosse boots with detachable cleats have cleats that can be removed and replaced. The edges of the sole have specially shaped clefts for screwing in different types of cleats. They are commonly used by players who play in different field conditions, such as in tours or year-round tournaments. They are less durable than molded cleats because the cleats can snap off easily with sudden pressure, but can easily be repaired by replacing the cleat. Cleat height Lacrosse boots with low cleats Low-cleat lacrosse boots have short cleats. They are easier to balance and give a better feel of the ground than mid cleats. They are best used on hard, rocky grounds. Lacrosse boots with mid cleats Mid-cleat lacrosse boots have higher cleats, which can be rigid or flexible. They are usually designed for playing on soft surfaces, such as moist soil or mud. They reduce contact between the foot and the ground, which may make them difficult to use for beginners.

Comfort: Choose lacrosse boots that are soft and comfortable. Look for those that are well padded on the inside, especially at the heel and upper sole, because there are subjected to more stress and abuse than other parts. The padding should be just thick enough to cushion your feet, and not reduce your feel of the ground. Traction: Choose lacrosse boots that provide good grip on the ground to help you keep your balance. The cleats should be the right size for the type of ground you usually play on. As a general rule, short cleats are good for hard surfaces and longer cleats are ideal for digging into soft ground.
