Guide to Paintball Grenades

Paintball Grenade : What is it?

pbgrenade2

Paintball grenades spray paint over a large area, allowing a player to tag multiple opponents at once or douse a single target with paint. They are usually made from rubber or surgical tubing, which is filled with paint, folded, and sealed. The structure is designed to unfold and burst upon impact, spraying paint over a five- to 15-foot radius. Spray distance is usually increased by packing more paint into tighter bladders. Paintball grenades are not allowed in tournaments, but are widely used in scenario and recreational play.

Kinds of Paintball Grenades include the following:

Assault grenades

These are miniature grenades that release paint upon contact with the target. They usually have less paint content and lower spray range. They are commonly thrown at single targets or small groups.

Hand grenades

Hand grenades are regular-sized and contain more paint. They are designed to be thrown onto the ground rather than at a target. They are heavier and have much higher spray range than assault grenades.

Choosing Paintball Grenades (Buying Tips)

Spray range: Choose a paintball grenade with a wide spray range to mark as many opponents as possible. Spray range is usually indicated on the package. Look for one with a double-ended structure, so that it sprays paint in multiple directions as it bursts. Tightly packed grenades usually spray better.

Weight:
Choose a paintball grenade that you can hold and swing without too much effort. Heavy grenades take more force to throw and can affect your accuracy. Make sure your grenade is heavy enough to burst with force, but light enough for you to aim and throw properly.

Sealing:
Make sure your paintball grenade is tightly sealed to prevent leaks, but also make sure you can easily pull the pin or cap off when launching. Look for one with a metal pull ring to help you uncap the grenade faster.
