Guide to Paintball Pistols

Paintball Pistol : What is it?

pbpistol1

Paintball pistols are miniature guns with internal feeds instead of hoppers. They have shorter barrels than regular paintball guns, which gives them less accuracy and shorter range. However, their size makes them easier to carry and makes them a more difficult target for opponents. They also make good backups for larger markers. Paintball pistols are powered by CO2 cartridges, although some models work with small remote-controlled tanks.

Kinds of Paintball Pistols include the following:

Single pump pistols

These paintball pistols have to be cocked after each shot, resulting in a lower firing rate. They require more skill to use, but can be more accurate than semi-automatic pistols. They are often used to develop aiming and shooting skills.

Semi-automatic pistols

These paintball pistols automatically cock and load paintballs after each shot. They have higher firing rates and eliminate the need for precise aiming. They use up more gas and require more frequent paint reloads than single pump pistols.

Choosing Paintball Pistols (Buying Tips)

Firing speed: Choose a paintball pistol that produces fairly fast shots. Your pistol may not reach the 300-fps speed standard for regular guns, but it should not reach speeds lower than 250 fps. Each shot should be fast enough for the paint to burst upon impact. Semi-automatics usually fire stronger shots than single pumps.

Air source: Choose a paintball pistol with a quick-change tank for playing scenario games or in small playing fields. This will save reloading time and help you use your air supply better than cartridges. Also, cartridges tend to leak air and do not perform as well when reused.

Portability:
Choose a lightweight paintball pistol that you can easily carry in your hand or on your waist. Look for one that comes with a holster or harness, preferably with pockets for extra cartridges.
