Like the original RoadTrip Grill, the LXE features authentic open flame grilling, two powerful burners that are fully adjustable, electronic ignition and uncommon cooking versatility thanks to mix-and-match cooking surface options. However, a cleverly designed new stand distinguishes the LXE model from its predecessor. The X-shaped chassis is wheeled for easy maneuvering in both the upright and collapsed-for-transport positions. It sets up quickly and provides excellent stability for cooking, thanks to the simplicity of the scissor-like leg and frame design. Two side tables integrated into the unit slide out for grilling and cooking duties, then retract under the unit in a moment's motion for travel and storage. Because the grill is affixed to the stand and the lid features a locking mechanism, the unit is secure and steady while towing it to and from a vehicle using a convenient pull handle. Whereas other portable liquid propane grills are petite and tabletop in design, the Roadtrip LXE is a full-size grill with collapsible scissor legs for countertops or travel. This 36-inch grill features 285 square inches of cooking space, ideal for toting to the beach or just into the driveway a small block party. Two 10,000 BTU burners cook meats evenly. Independent control knobs allow users to adjust temperatures on either burner for flexibility.

The grill comes equipped with two warp-resistant cast-iron grill grates, coated in porcelain for cleaning convenience. Two side tables attach to the grill's sides for extra preparation space and store neatly under the grill. A grease tray catches drippings, sliding out for cleaning. The grill is outfitted with an Instastart electronic ignition. I write this review after having cooked one meal on the grill; I will update it again after I have more experience.

One of the factors in my choosing this grill was its presumed ease of setup (the size, style, and generally positive reviews were other factors). I liked seeing reviews that said that people had it working within ten minutes out of the box. That wasn't quite the case for me. It was a bit harder to put together than I'd expected, but ultimately I managed.

The wheels weren't so bad to put on, although the instructions did NOT say which side to have turned outwards, so I ended up putting them on backwards. I only discovered this when I went to put on the wheel covers. The handle was easy to put on, and the grates, and even the propane tank--although at first I didn't screw the tank on tightly enough, I guess, since it didn't work at first try. Also the instructions say to check that the burners are properly positioned, and to do so, you need to unscrew about 10 screws that have been tightly put on to remove the grill top. I am unable to unscrew the cover to check that the burners are properly positioned--the screws are just on too tightly! The burners are working ok now, but I worry about this a bit for the future--you're supposed to clean out the grill connections underneath every year after bringing it out of storage, since spiders like to make nests in the tubes and that could be a hazard. I imagine I'll have to use an electric screwdriver to get the screws off--no way can I do it by hand.

Once I finally got the grill assembled and working, it was indeed easy to use. I found that I had to hit the ignition button several times before the grill lit (either that, or perhaps there is a delay longer than I expected between pressing the button and the grill igniting). So far clean up has been easy; I am planning however, as several of the other reviews advise, to line the grill bottom with aluminum foil to make cleanup even easier.

I'm looking forward to many meals in my "outdoor kitchen" this summer!

I love this grill. So easy to use, easy to transport. Grill gets hot very quick. I have cooked steaks and burgers, hot dogs, sausages, everything has been great. You get a fantastic sear on a steak. Definitely line the area beneath the grillheads with tin foil. To clean, i just took off the grills, put in sick, soapy water, threw them in the dishwasher, and they were great. Only problem is the tiny propane tanks - they go quick. I bought the hose connector, and now have to get the big propane tank to connect. Very quick setup. Love this grill.

Decent grill, not exactly user friendly. Difficult to collapse, rounded cover limits amount of food you can put on it. If I had to make a second decision with the info I know now, I would have gone with a different choice.

We just took it to California for a couple of weeks and used it for barbeques and we really love it and how it works for us. Also how nice it is to be able to fold it and store it in our motor home.
