For the size and price, you can't beat it! - Bargain Finder, Nov 25, 2008

If I hadn't already purchased the Pelican 4000 KingLite, I might not have been so impressed by this Garrity spotlight. But, I found out that for the price and weight, the Garrity is a winner. Now, it's NOT a 10 million candlepower spotlight, but it nicely illuminates some objects up to about 50+ feet. But don't buy this Garrity for use as a "flashlight" because you'll be diappointed. That's not what it's configured for. It's made to light up objects at a distance. My best guess (though I didn't have a tape measure), is that it 'adequately' lit-up an object around 50 feet away. And with just 4 AA batteries, it's really lightweight. I previously bought the Pelican 4000, which takes 8D cell (yes 8!) batteries, and it's HEAVY! And as for the illumination characteristics of the Pelcian King Lite (which costs in the $60-to-$80+ range), this Garrity...at one-quarter the price, and one-tenth the weight...is the better choice. Now, I 'do' want to mention that the Pelican claims that it will penetrate 'murk' and 'fog', etc., and maybe that's true. I never had a chance to test that characteristic. But for clear weather, the luxeon LED of the Garrity is a better choice than the Krypton bulb of the Pelican 4000 KingLite. (And the Pelican's bulb has to be replaced after 30 hours of use.)

nice light for the money - J. Neugebauer, Oct 21, 2008

This little spotlight is very light and throws a nice compact beam that is quite bright! It uses 4AA batteries that for me is a plus. Medium duty, switch seems a little light to the touch but all in all I am very happy with the light!
