Rating : Cheap or "Bad Apple" - Yakker, Apr 03, 2008
Either this thing is very cheaply made or I got a "bad apple." Either way it reflects very poorly on the brand. It hadn't been out of the package for more than 2 minutes when it quit working. I didn't drop it or inflict any other trauma. Thus, is the product is lousy, or the company's quality control deficient. Buy something else.
Rating : Good light. - J. Vinopal, Mar 05, 2008
Two issues with this headlamp:
1. the buttons are small and have virtually no feel. they're rubber against a rubberized surface. I'll probably put a dot of tape or epoxy on them to give them some contrast.
2. the bottom white leds shine through the back translucent housing causing an annoying and distracting blueish glow in your peripheral vision. I put a line of black electrical tape over it and that does perfectly.
that aside, the fit is good, the weight is fine, AA last longer than AAA and swap into more devices (gps, etc), and the main beam is pleasingly bright.

Initial Tests:
Comfort: I thought at first the back battery compartment would appear slightly annoying, but it curves to the back of your head and is padded. You don't even know it's there. The light fixture is sturdy. Very sturdy. I jumped up and down vigorously trying to get it to tilt out of place (or trying to get the battery pack loose) but the tilt locking mechanism held fast (And the battery pack didn't budge).
Luminosity: The actual light produced from this 1 watt LED is amazing. (The last headlamp I had boasted a 1w LED, but was probably half as capable) I went out on the road and I swear it was like having my personal car head light. You can easily see down the street. I was lighting up the neighbors' yards that were at least a 100ft away. For comparison, this fixture is just as bright as the 9 volt battery flash light combo that many use on camping trips. The extra smaller LEDs are pretty much useless compared to the main one, unless you intend on conserving battery life. Which, when it comes to LEDs you do anyway. The red front and rear LEDs can stay constantly on or blink. A great combo for when cycling/jogging/walking/etc at night. And of course for splunking!!!
Final Thoughts: I intend on actually using this now as my main lighting on my cycle for nightly campus trips. It outshines by far my older one, which were also LEDs. I would still recommend you have another type of rear lighting device, because the rear LEDs on this headlamp, while bright, may not be enough alone.
Very Nice Buy! Highly Recommend.

Very bright light on high power, LEDs provide adjustable lower brightness if needed. Buttons to operate lights are quite small and take some practice to find when wearing the light.
