Amazon.com Product Description

Whether you want to reduce back stress or fatigue, stimulate your blood circulation, or work your abs, the Ironman ATIS 1000 inversion table makes a great household accessory. The inversion table contributes to your body's overall health by optimizing lumbar traction, thereby relieving pressure on your vertebrae discs and ligaments. And when your back starts to relax, the rest of your body follows. The table can also help with such areas as increasing body flexibility for improved athletic performance, reducing the effects of aging due to gravity, and relieving lower backaches due to sitting or standing.

However, the ATIS 1000 differs from other inversion tables in a couple of crucial ways. First, by virtue of its ab and core training system, the table isolates the abdominals far more effectively than bench training, letting you build and strengthen your abs daily with just a few minutes of work. And second, the table offers 10 different inversion locking angles, letting you find the perfect position for your body type and symptoms.

The ATIS 1000 is outfitted with a durable oval tubing steel frame and a heavy nylon backrest with a memory foam vinyl pillow. The backrest is tough yet durable, while the pillow provides ample head support. More importantly, the inversion system is a breeze to use: once you rest your body against the nylon backrest and slip your feet into the ergonomically molded ankle cushions, simply reach your arms over your head. As your arms go up, your body gradually inverts to the preset angle. The only inputs are your energy and gravity itself.

Users will also appreciate the tough rubber non-skid floor stabilizers, which keep the table stable while you invert, and the extra-long safety handles, which provide an easy return to an upright position. Other details include a height-adjustable frame up to 6 feet 6 inches; support for up to 300 pounds; vinyl safety side covers to protect hands and fingers; a scratch-resistant powder-coated finish; inverted, foam-dipped hand grips that provide maximum stretching while inverted; and a side holder for cell phones, eyeglasses, wallets, coins, watches, and other small items. The ATIS 1000, which folds into a compact footprint for easy storage, measures 26 by 62 by 49 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 76 pounds.

Ironman ATIS 1000 AB - Gwindor, Nov 03, 2009

I've had the ATIS 1000 for about a month now, and it's been great overall. I don't think I'll be going the chiropractor ever again, which pays for the table in about a month! Of course, the true test will be whether it holds up over time, but it seems pretty sturdy to begin with.

Setup was relatively simple, and it took me about 60 - 80 minutes I suppose. There were a couple minor plastic pieces that arrived broken, but they were so irrelevant to the operation of the table that I didn't bother to get replacements for them.

A couple minor complaints about design. While I was willing to pay extra for the ability to lock the table in place (ab training system), I have a feeling that those components will be the first to break down. The handle to lock/unlock the table can catch sometimes, and if you're not used to using the table, you could probably break it in frustration. Give yourself a good week to get used to operating it. You will get the hang of it eventually.

Also, some of the plastic parts, mainly the ankle restraints, give off an awful smell. It has lessened over time, but considering it is still apparent over a month later, you can imagine the kind of chemicals involved in its production. I think it would be worth paying a few more bucks for less toxic plastic parts from China, but maybe that's just me.

My last design complaint has to do with the canvas-type backing to the table. Unlike some other tables by Ironman, the ATIS has a material back as opposed to a cushion covered board type. I'm not sure if the other is better, but I don't think the material backing provides enough lumbar and posterior support. There is a means to tighten it, though it really doesn't do much, and the material ends up sagging a bit. There is a piece of foam that sticks to one of the structural bars right at the lower back that is supposed to help with supporting, but it ends up being a bit uncomfortable. In the end it is relatively a minor issue though.

Despite my minor complaints, I would recommend this table if you're looking for the AB training system. If however you are merely interested in inversion, anything well built and sturdy will do the job. After all, the basic idea is to hang you upside down without dropping you on your head!

We just got this, but it did not ship with assembly instructions or training DVD. Any suggestions on where I can get these on the web? Thanks!

No Mas!! - Ronald C. Cavaliere, Sep 30, 2009

This Item is built well,it took my 275 lb frame with ease..I do sit ups on this, and my back does not bother me,,it is adjustable, your feet rest comfortably in the feet joints.
And the other thing ,,its portable,,you can easily put it away from site.
Great Product. JUST DO NOT EAT BEFORE YOU TRY THIS.

Best one I've tried/seen! - Chad R. Farren, Sep 15, 2009

This Inversion table is the best I've used. The feet clamps alone make it the best. They clamp you in and you dont have to strain your feet or legs holding yourself upside down, b/c theyre nice and sturdy, though you do have to wear shoes, or you fall out of them. I had to remove the headrest, b/c my shoulders wouldn't go straight on the upside hang, and its uncomfortable, a towel or even a pillow works just fine, just take it off, its much better. I love the fact that you can lock it into different positions. My boyfriend feels a big difference in his back. I have tremendous back pain and problems, and can not incline all the way back yet, so its just taking some time. Though it does stretch me out and I feel betteer right after. It doesn't replace the pain medication, yet....But im hopeful one day it will!

I definitely recommend the IRON MAN ATIS 1000 AB INVERSION TABLE!!!

The Ironman ATIS 1000 works! - MikeR, Aug 31, 2009

Great Purchase. The ankle support is comfortable for me, but a little loose for smaller ankles. Gives immediate response to the jammed, aching back.
