Rating : Good Value and just what I wanted - Robert P. Raymond, Apr 28, 2008
I saw this pan in a local department store for $30 more thank the price. I ordered with resverations, who puts a broken pan on the sales page, and received it jsut fine. It was seasoned as promised and makes the best home fries Ihave had in years.

Get your iron needs met by cooking in this HEAVY, huge skillet. Avoid burning grilled food by using the skillet on your grill, with grill cover down. Non-toxic.
Rating : HEAVY & STURDY & SUPERB - RKA, Mar 18, 2008
Nothing lightweight about this cast-iron skillet. I use it primarily for frying and it maintains the heat perfectly for large batches of fish or chicken. I was happy when it came and I realized how wide this was; it almost needs two burners. I also own the 12 inch skillet which is great. Pre-seasoning makes this brand my favorite. It's priced right and comes with free shipping from Amazon.
Rating : NOT MADE THE SAME ANYMORE!!! - Avid Camper, Mar 03, 2008
I own over a dozen Lodge Cast item pieces that I've happily used for many years and recently purchased this one to add to my collection. Immediately, I noticed this pan seemed thinner and "cheaper" made, than in the past. On the first use, I noticed the pan bottom was warped upward in the center allowing oil and food to run to the edge. After 3-4 uses, I noticed the bottom center seemed to be deteriorating. After 5 uses, I noticed what seems to be a crack forming. Now it will be thrown away. I've NEVER had a problem with Lodge cast iron until now. Wasted money and very disappointed!
Rating : Good value for the price... - P. Mulford, Mar 02, 2008
This is huge and so it's best used for cooking a great quantity of food. It IS unwieldy and must be carried or moved with both (protected) hands. While you do want to rinse and brush it while still warm, you must be careful not to put a too-hot pan in a sink not meant for overly hot iron.My sink is a beautiful black, stone composite, and so I often end up trying to balance the pan on something that I've set into the sink to be the other "hand" while I brush. One hand on the handle, one hand holds the brush...you really need to think about how you plan to choreograph this before you bring it to the sink. One small complaint: After 3 uses I've noticed a very small area near the handle that seems to have lost it's black 'finish'. It's silver underneath, which really surprises me, as I assumed it was black cast all throughout. Maybe it hit something, but geez, I was a little disappointed. I would recommend this pan, however.
