Rating : Mini Meal-maker......... - VC Pro, May 14, 2008
I was surprised by the size when it arrived. The outer diameter is around 6.5" but the cooking surface is about 4.5". Still, its not too small. Thank God, I thought of getting the miniature skillet instead of this!! I think its good for 1 omelette or cookie or pancake. I'm using it for seasoning spices, called as "Tadka" or "Thaalippu" as in Indian cuisine - very ideal.
But the pre-seasoned finish was more brown than black along with some tiny pores. But then, just after 2 uses, it is trying to look somewhat black with the application of oil. I followed the instructions that came with the skillet. Also, the glue that sticks the instructions card to the skillet came out well as if it was a non-stick pan (Somewhere in some lodge reviews, I read that the glue was scoured out of the pan causing discoloration).
And GUESS WHAT......I got it for FREE....YES, as part of the 4-for-3 promotion. That's the best thing about this skillet. It came in along with 2 other stuff neatly packaged and was on time. THANKS Amazon....
Rating : Nice like other Lodge items, but small - D. King, May 11, 2008
I bought this and am pleased with it, but I laughed when I opened the box. It is quite small. The 6 1/2 measurement is the external width, the bottom of the frying pan is closer to 5 or 5 1/2 inches. So you can make it burger, but it's tight. I still like it for the price and the unusual size and recommend it when purchased knowing what you're getting.
Rating : Small but practical - Purrs_WA, Jan 25, 2008
I didn't expect this skillet to be so small. My roommate was joking with me that I can only use it to melt butter. But, I found it is very handy and useful for me! I never learned how to fry eggs. It always ends up like a scrambled eggs ( which I hate scrambled eggs!) Now I can make such a nice and round fried eggs!!!! Also if you are just preparing a meal for one, this little thing is very practical. One last thing, it is much easier to treat than those heavy big skillets. I bought 3 different sizes skillets, so far this is the one that I use the most!
Rating : Amazon has everything! - Mossy, Jan 17, 2008
I was happy to finally find these 6 1/2 in. cast iron skillets. I ordered eight of them, I make homemade hamburger buns and Schloskies' type bread, and cornbread in them. They are great. My kitchen couldn't operate without my cast iron cookware. From roaring campfire to smooth new designer range, it works with everything. (After a mix-up with the shipping company, I found my order and all turned out well.) LOVE AMAZON, you're my store!

Missed the cast iron pots and pans my Mom and Grandma had...still think there is really nothing better, you can keep all the new fangled cooking utensils...the "old" work beautifully...
