About Exercise Bikes Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program. Average Rating of 4.00 out of 50 reviews
Rating : upright exercise bike - Francine M. Filice, Nov 18, 2009
Easy to put together and fits in small space. Very smooth cycle and even the seat is comfortable. For the price I think it's a very good deal. We did a lot of research before purchasing this bike. I would recommend it.
Rating : Feels better than the gym! - Scooby Di, Nov 16, 2009
This bike is really nice for the price. It was super easy to set up if you read the directions people! It's really quiet and rides smoothly. You don't have much room to pedal while standing. I wouldn't recommend it. The seat made my butt fall asleep so I changed out the seat with my bike seat. Changing the seat made a huge difference and it was really easy to do. I love this bike and would recommend it to anyone!
Rating : Schwinn 130 Upright Exercise Bike - FitnessOne, Nov 09, 2009
This purchase was intended to be a second Schwinn 130 Upright Exercise Bike for our vacation home. We ordered one (1) bike trhough Amazon, but, inexplicably, two arrived. I refused the one in the damaged box and off it went with the UPS truck and was promptly credited back to our credit card by Amazon. That's the good news. The bad news is the second bike's thin, metal body was shattered during shipping, something we didn't discover until we opened the perfectly intact box. That one was returned via UPS and credited by Amazon as well. Lesson learned: buy books and, maybe, DVDs from Amazon. Buy anything breakable somewhere else, preferably from a merchant that can bring it to your site and set it up because most of Amazon's items like the bike are shipped from fulfillment houses or manufacturers and that results in a lot of risky handling betweeen the shipper and the purchaser. This would be especially true during the frantic holiday ordering/shipping season.
Rating : Knocking was driving me nuts - vcponsardin, Oct 26, 2009
I bought my Schwinn 130 a few months ago and, like some others, soon discovered that it knocked. Once every revolution, there was a hard "thunk" that was accomplanied by a single vibration that made the rotational action uneven. I took the housing apart, looked around and found nothing that I could determine was the cause. The noise was so irritating that I stopped using the bike after a while out of frustration. I tried it again a few weeks ago and found that the knocking came and went, but that it seemed to be on the right side. Again, I looked inside and found nothing. Finally, I discovered (almost by chance) that the knocking was coming from the pedal itself. If I moved the horizontal angle of my foot, the noise stopped. After some investigation, I found that the top strap on the stirrup was somehow causing the peddle axle to knock once every revolution. As soon as I adjusted my foot angle, the knocking stopped. I also discovered that the knocking stopped it I didn't use the top strap. By placing my foot on top of the peddle without the strap, the bike was silent and smooth. I don't know what's up inside the peddle axle, but I managed to solve my knocking problem.
I'm giving the bike four stars out of five, since the knocking is an annoyance that shouldn't be there. But it is resolvable. Other than that, I find it a great exercise bike for the price.
Rating : Just What I Need! - Phillip Mahlow, Aug 09, 2009
I was looking for a good bargain on an upright bike as starting at $600 or upward but when I compared what was out there, I knew the Schwinn was right and at a great price. I'm a very big man and was concerned it might not be strong enough to support me, but it is built well and has no problems and the computer has enough programs and features that it has not gotten boring. Fairly easy to assemble and the tools came included. Great Value.
