Only SchwinnŽ can leverage more than 100 years of cycling expertise into better-engineered fitness products, and the SchwinnŽ 230 Recumbent Bike, with its walk-through design and scores of innovative features, is no exception. Save money on monthly gym fees and get yourself in shape with the compact, comfortable Schwinn 230 recumbent exercise bike. The 230 boasts many of the high-quality features of the Schwinn 213, but adds several extras, including a nicer, easier-to-read instrument panel with a three-position angle adjustment, a slightly lower pedal height that produces a more comfortable riding position, and an easy step-through frame. And that doesn't even account for all the essentials, which range from 16 resistance levels to handlebars with an integrated heart rate monitor built into the grip. The handiest feature, however, is unquestionably the anatomically designed recumbent seat, which not only offers a dual-position lumbar support for added comfort, but also a micro-adjustable fore/aft seat slider that accommodate a variety of body types and sizes. Other details include six preset programs (calorie goal, BMI measurement, recovery test, results mode, quick start, and manual mode), 10 profile courses, and transport wheels that both protect your floors and make the bike easy to store.
Track your time, interval time, RPM, watts, distance, pulse, speed, calories, and resistance on the 230's LCD console. | Specifications: - 16 resistance levels

Manufacturer's Warranty Frame - 10 years, mechanical and electrical - 1 year, wear items - 6 months, labor - 90 days About Recumbent Exercise Bikes Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program. Average Rating of 4.50 out of 230 reviews
Rating : Schwinn 230 is a Good Buy - Open Books, Nov 19, 2009
Schwinn 230 is a good buy. I have used mine nearly every day since it arrived. The bike has a lot of features and is very quiet. It seems to be a well made product and it has performed very well thus far. The price was very competitive and it was shipped quickly and arrived in very good condition. Assembly was very easy.
Rating : happy but no wires!! - J. judd, Nov 15, 2009
I really like the bike - so quiet. Putting it together was fine, until we came to treading the wire to hook up the computer ... NO WIRE. A call etc. - it was delivered timely ... all is well!
Rating : I love my bike! - Sunny, Nov 13, 2009
I am not a person who loves to exercise, but I really enjoy riding my bike. I can use one of the programs, get my book and read to distract myself. The seat is comfortable for my back and it is quiet enough to watch TV if I want. I've had it a year and I'm so glad I bought it.
Rating : Perfect home recumbent bike - M. E. Winstead, Nov 07, 2009
I am thrilled with my Amazon purchase of the Schwinn 230. Until I searched on Amazon, I thought I would have to pay $1000 or more for a desperately needed recumbent bike. (I have a recent back injury). The earlier reviews convinced me that the Schwinn 230 would work for me. I was also lucky to get the bike on sale and with free shipping. My "handy-husband" was able to set the bike up in 1.5 hours. It arrived via UPS and in perfect condition. I bought the extra warranty; I received my email confirmation immediately and I received my paper documents within a few days. I find it easy to use the computer console and the seat is both adjustable and comfortable. For those of us with injuries, this is an ideal home recumbent bike.
Rating : Excellent bike for the price - R. Cushman, Nov 03, 2009
Very solid construction, almost comparable to what one would find in a commercial gym model. Step-through design is particularly helpful for persons with limited mobility. Got this for my 92-year-old father, who walks with a cane and walker. He was able to use it immediately, with no difficulty (except for programming the computer).
A backlight on the computer display would be nice, but it works fine with appropriate ambient lighting. Somewhat limited programming, but for most persons this will not be a big issue. Do you really need two dozen pre-programmed "rides"? If so, consider the 231 model.
Takes a bit of time to assemble -- two hours, in my case -- but the instructions are clear and everything down to the nuts and bolts is clearly packed and appropriately labelled. A lot of thought clearly was put into the packaging.
Shipping can be a challenge, as others have noted. My first order was lost by UPS, so I had to order a second. But this was done by Amazon without any delay once I reported the arrival failure. Minor damage to the shipping box, but everything inside was fine due to good packing materials.
