About Recumbent Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out.

The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Not usable now! - Very Dissapointed, Nov 17, 2009

Bought this through Sears. Had to wait two months for it to be in stock.
Loved the bike until the pedals started falling off just after the 90-day mark. They eventually stripped and made it unusable. Got replacement crank and pedals, but it is so complicated to take apart, I doubt it can be done. Would not recommend this product to anyone. I needed it for knee rehab and did not have a lot of money for an expensive bike. When it was working properly, I loved it and I even lost weight with daily use.

DO NOT BUY FROM FOOT SMART! - Crazy Cat Lady, Nov 12, 2009

I thought this would be a great birthday gift for my hubby and ordered it 2 weeks prior. When the bike arrived, it was clear that the seller had shipped out an item that they had not inspected prior to shipping as you could see it was broken as soon as the box was opned. I emailed Foot Smart and let them know it was damaged and that I needed it replaced within a week as it was to be a gift and needed by a set date. Someone emailed me back and said a replacement had been shipped and they would arrange to have the damaged item picked up. 4 Days later I got a phone call informing me that Fedx would pick the damaged item up tomorrow, but with no information on delivery for the replacement. I called them back and was told that the replacement item had not shipped as I was told and was not ordered until 3 days later. Its on back order for at least 2 more weeks! NO ONE FROM FOOT SMART BOTHERED TO CALL ME AND LET ME KNOW! They knew they shipped out an item that should not have shipped and that this was pure carelessness on their part and that the replacement item was neeed ASAP, yet did not have the courtsey or good customer service to call me and let me know of a delay and offer a refund!! They also told me I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT 5 BIZ DAYS for them to refund my money!!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ANY COMPANY ON AMAZON! BEWARE, DO NOT BUY FROM FOOT SMART!!

Excellent Value - M. J. Gonzales, Nov 06, 2009

After trying out several stationary bikes at local stores, I found this to be the most comfortable, lightweight and easy to use. The bike is very quiet and is great for exercising while watching tv. It was extremely easy to put together - I did it alone and it took me about 20 minutes. If you're looking for something basic (no programmed routines) and easy to use - don't hesitate to purchase this item!

Nice, but with a noise - M. Fornell, Nov 05, 2009

Easy to put together - just takes common sense. Some pieces are there strictly for bracing during shipping - discard them. I've only had it about 3 weeks and one of those I was on vacation. So far so good, however last night it began making a noise halfway through my routine. May not be serious - we'll see. Other than that, nice.

OUCH! My bottom hurts... - Tiffany Bailes, Nov 03, 2009

I was really torn between a 3 or 4 star rating because there are some great things about this bike. However, the level of comfort swayed the rating to a 3 star. After about 5 minutes of working out on the bike I find myself needing to stop. Not because I'm worn out but because it really makes my butt hurt. Now i did buy a little travel size pillow that allows me to ride for about 20 minutes before I have to give up, however, a custom cushion would make this process much much easier. The seat adjustment is really the most annoying thing. My husband and I are both using it. He is 6'1 and I'm 5'5 so the seat has to be readjusted after every use. It really seems difficult to get the pin in the hole to get it locked, and when it's not locked it wobbles from side to side and will probably damage the unit if you try riding like this. The only other complaint I really have was with the assembly. It was very awkward as most of the hardware that was used was already on the unit and you had to find it and remove it. I thought at first this was an innovative idea as I've not seen any other "assembly required" items do this. However, after removing the 3rd screw I realized what a pain this is, both time and energy wise. As for the pros... I live in a very cramped 1 bedroom apt. with my husband and dog. We considered a treadmill (but too big and too noisy)and regular bikes (but no where to store them). So I found this...If your looking for something that won't annoy your neighbors and won't take up much space then this is the exercise bike of your dreams (aside from the otherwise noted problems). Now a display with a memory of usage would have been wonderful but I can see why it is so basic for the cost of the unit. An excel spreadsheet can keep track of the usage anyway. All in all this bike is worth it for the money, but just not worthy of 4 stars.
