Resistance bands are elastic bands made of rubber tubing used for strength training. They are lightweight, portable, and space saving exercise equipment. Designed to effectively build muscle strength and tone the body, there are resistance bands for a variety of exercises that target specific muscle groups. They are usually color-coded according to the resistance levels they offer – extra-heavy, heavy, medium, light, or extra-light.
Thin And Flat Resistance Bands measure about four feet long. They are ideal for training the lower body and strengthening the ankles.
Tube resistance bands
Tube resistance bands measure around four to five feet long. They usually have plastic handles. They are ideal for working the upper body and both sides of the body. They are further classified into fit tube and clip tube resistance bands.
Types according to tubes
Fit tube resistance bands
Fit tube resistance bands are heavy-duty rubber latex tubes with plastic handles on each end. Most models feature five resistance levels and are built with door attachments. Fit tube resistance bands are ideal for upper and lower body workouts.
Clip tube resistance bands
Clip tube resistance bands are rubber latex clip tubes with ankle cuffs and plastic handles on each end. They allow cable-machine exercises at home, in the office, or while traveling. Some models can be used individually, while others are designed to be clipped to another band to create more resistance levels. Most clip tube resistance bands are built with door attachments.
Width: Choose a resistance band according to your fitness level. As a rule, the wider or the thicker the band is, the more resistance it has.
Quality: Never use a resistance band that is already worn out, cracked, or old as it may easily break while you are training. Before you start any exercise, make sure the handles of your band are securely attached to the tube.
Durability: Be sure that the band is firmly fastened to the door knob. Keep the door locked to prevent it from opening and disrupting your workout or causing you to injure yourself.
