Ski goggles are the protective eyewear worn for skiing. They are large glasses made up of shatterproof polycarbonate lenses and soft and flexible frames. They are attached to elastic straps secured around the skier’s head. Ski goggles provide UV protection from the sun’s rays made even powerful by the combination of high altitude and reflection. UV rays can damage the eyes and cause snow blindness. Ski goggles are used to prevent ice particles from getting into the eyes, as they can irritate them and cause temporary blindness. They also serve as shields from flying objects such as twigs that can hit the face when skiing through heavily wooded areas.
