A stringing machine is used by mounting a bare racquet by its head and throat on top of the machine. The preferred racquets string is then pulled through the racquet head until the desired tension is reached.
Stringing machines come in drop weight, spring tension, electronic, and portable types. Different types use different methods of stringing to provide anywhere from eight to 90 pounds of tension to the racquet being strung. Stringing machines are found in most racquet stores, sports clubs, and specialty stores that sell sports racquets and other related equipment.
