A tricycle, also called a trike, is great for training children who cannot yet balance on a bicycle. Tricycles actually come in three different configurations. A tricycle with two wheels at the back and one steered wheel in front is called a ‘delta.’ A tricycle with two steered wheels in front and one wheel at the back, on the other hand, is called a ‘tadpole.’ There are even more unusual tricycles with two wheels in tandem on one side and a large driving wheel on the other side.
A recumbent tricycle is suitable for long-distance cycling. It is ideal for riders with back problems because the recumbent position allows back support.
Upright tricycles
An upright tricycle rides like a regular bicycle. It is often preferred by people with motor and mobility problems.
Tilt. Choose a tricycle designed to tilt into the corners. They are mush more comfortable to ride on cambered roads. They also give you fast cornering capability.
Handbrake. Choose a tricycle with separate handbreak operations for the front wheel/s and rear wheel/s to reduce steer wandering and have better brake control.
