The Groovy Girls is a line of fashion dolls created as an alternative to leading fashion dolls like Barbie, Bratz and Flavas. It is manufactured by Manhattan Toy and was launched in 1998. The brand concept centers on creating funky dolls that would represent all ethnic races in America. Themes most obvious in the doll collection are self-expression, friendship and fashion. Each doll has a different hairstyle, skin tone and facial features to cover a wide ethnic spectrum. Groovy Girls’ target markets are girls aged 6 to 12. Products sold aside from dolls include apparel, interactive games and stationery and beauty kits.
